Strategy Development

Addison & Associates have undertaken a wide variety of strategy development for both individual local authorities, groups of authorities and public/ private sector partnerships.  This work has included the formulation and development of bespoke strategies and the development of associated implementation programmes and action plans on a varied spectrum of issues.  Our knowledge and skills base enables us to develop strategy in an integrated way, linking through to policy and procedures, in place and those required, to practice.  The strategies developed are realistic and achievable within the confines placed on our clients and are written to allow for their successful roll out and monitoring.

Recent and current projects include:
London Councils – Strategic Planning Advice to London Councils, 2009/10
Addison & Associates in association with Colin Buchanan, Capita Symonds, Hewdon Consulting and Professor Janice Morphet were commissioned to provide strategic planning advice and professional representation to London Councils on the issues likely to arise in the Examination in Public (EiP) on the London Plan to be held in the summer of 2010.  This comprised firstly of the production of a report analysing the implications for London Councils and the boroughs of the policies in the public consultation draft of the Review of the London Plan and providing suggestions as to how London Councils could respond.  Secondly, the provision of advice to London Councils in preparing submissions for the EiP and to represent London Councils at the EiP as required.

Supporting the development of the LDF
Through our interim management work we have in-depth local authority based experience.  This has involved leading the development of the LDF’s and Core Strategies for both Newham and WNDC.  At a more strategic level we have provided interim management functions as corporate director and service director of a multi –disciplinary department.

Wealden District Council – LDF Member/LSP workshops on the Core Strategy, 2008/09
Through a series of three facilitated workshops members and LSP partners assisted in developing elements of the core strategy - from expressing wishes and desires in Workshop 1, to the production of a coherent vision and basis for objectives through Workshops 2 and 3/4.   The workshops formed a key part of the process in developing the range of options for the core strategy and were managed in such a way that each workshop built upon the previous one formulating and developing the supporting core strategy options and spatial vision.  The key aims of the workshops were to facilitate members understanding of the evidence gathered and its implications; increase ownership of LDF core strategy content by increasing participants understanding of the value of the process, and to involve them in the identification of key issues, options and strategies, and the process of identifying the preferred way forward.
